Workshop Assistant Application
Hit YouTube Channel "How to Make Everything" is seeking a multi talented FEMALE to help with our workshop projects and appear in our videos. A successful candidate is interested to spend their days getting their hands dirty in researching and creating the necessary physical assets that Andy needs to do his projects. Andy's challenge is to attempt to recreate some of the major advancements in technology throughout history starting in the stone age. We are currently in the Bronze Age...so projects range from needing to make pottery to doing metal smelting to weaving baskets and primitive woodworking. If you watch our Channel, you will see how Andy has worked with Assistants in the past.
PLEASE NOTE: BECAUSE THIS ROLE IS ALSO AN ON CAMERA CO-HOST ROLE, WE ARE MAKING A CASTING DECISION BY prioritizing FEMALE CANDIDATES in order to have a good gender balance on our channel. However we will accept and consider submissions from guys. Also, salary wise, this is considered an “entry level” position…so don’t give up your high paying day job just for us. But what we can offer is an opportunity to work on content that is seen by hundreds of thousands of people all over the world and a supportive workspace to help you develop your own passions.
While a craft or mixed media Arts background can be helpful, it is more important to find a Candidate that is dedicated to our Mission to create quality, educational content that is entertaining. We take on the task to attempt complex historical projects in a tight production timeline with strict video release deadlines. For that reason, burnout and roadblocks are a common risk. A successful Candidate may have a video production background where you understand that "what is needed for the shot" is much different than making a perfect item. Self motivation and Self management are VERY important.
Also, this role will also be a public role. Because we cover the process of research and construction...this role will be on camera as Andy's Assistant. You don't have to have any previous on camera experience but must be willing and excited to appear on camera. For the right Candidate, this could be a great opportunity to be seen and known by millions of Fans around the world!
While that might sound exciting and intimidating, the job is fairly straight forward. We try and adhere to standard workday schedule at our workshop space in Minneapolis. Normal work hours would be Monday-Friday from 10 am - 6pm. We may request overtime hours during crunch times but are flexible based on individuals needs. This would be an hourly position paid as an Employee or Independent Contractor (whichever your preference).
Please send your resume, a current photo of yourself and any links to video work you appear in to info@makeeverything.tv Please also let us know if you currently live in Minnesota or are willing to move here from somewhere else. We will end our search the first or second week of March and will begin contacting appropriate Candidates for an interview. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE WITH US REGARDING THIS JOB POSTING THROUGH OUR SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS OR YOUTUBE. We will only accept submissions here or through email. Thank you!
